6 Quick Tips to Help You Tweet Like a Pro

Twitter TipsTwitter has recently undergone a bit of a redesign, introducing both a new look, and some new features.

The new profile design has garnered a lot of comparisons to Facebook, and if you’ve seen it, you’ll know why: a new layout, a profile picture, a much larger header image, and even the ability to pin tweets to the top of your profile give the new Twitter a very “Facebook-like” look.

In this edition of Tech Corner, I’ll take a quick look at some of those new features, and share some quick tips to make you a more savvy Twitter user.

The Profile

At first glance, two of the most noticeable changes are the placement of the profile picture and the much larger header image.

Although an uploaded profile picture will be resized automatically, the recommended size is 400 x 400 pixels.

The new and larger profile header image dimensions are 1500 x 500 pixels. 

In addition to the ability to now pin tweets to the top of the profile, another addition is the “Best Tweets” feature that increases the size of your most popular tweets, making your most engaging tweets easier to see (similar to how tag clouds work in WordPress).

But whether your profile is old or new, one of the best tips for your profile is to make sure it’s both current and complete.

Up-to-date profiles not only look more professional, but have the added benefit of ranking higher in search results as well.

Another reason is that for people that don’t know you, your profile is your chance to make a first impression, and they may base most of their decision to follow, or not follow you, based on the information in your profile, and how active you are.
